Accept Donations Online

Do More Consulting’s payment gateway provides a low-cost method for accepting donations online. No monthly fees, no setup charges, and low at-cost transaction fees.

Traditional Payment Processing

Setting up online donations usually involves establishing a relationship with an internet gateway provider to provide a secure mechanism for processing transactions and with a merchant solutions provider to provide payment processing via the major credit card providers.

Depending upon the provider, internet gateway providers and merchant solutions providers charge setup fees, monthly fees, transaction fees, and take a percentage of the transaction on top of all the fees. And, after all of the fees, time and energy, someone still has to integrate the payment processing into your website.

Based upon our experience, it can take up to a month or more to setup your website for online donations.

do more Donations

The do more Donations component allows your organization to leverage our existing e-commerce infrastructure for your organization, at cost. We only charge your organization what it costs us to process the transaction:

  • 2% of the total transaction 1
  • $0.17 per transaction for Visa / MasterCard 2
  • $0.20 per transaction for American Express 2

How It Works

For your organization to accept donations using our do more Donations component:

  • Register your organization in the Do More Community
  • Provide the routing and account number of your organization's bank account
  • Verify the initial amount deposited into your account

Once we verify your organization's 501(c)3 or 501(c)7 status, we'll turn on the do more Donation's component for your organization.

When you receive a donation, we hold the funds for a maximum of 14 days and then electronically transfer funds directly to your organization's bank account each Friday for donations received during the prior week.

Example

Your organization receives a donation for $50 using a Visa card on Monday the 3rd. The second Friday after the donation is made, the 14th, a deposit is made to your organization's account for donations received from the 1st to the 7th, in this case, $48.83 ($50 less 2%, minus $0.17)

  1. Rates vary between 1.73% and 1.99%; Currently we are unable to directly integrate with Heartland to determine the actual fee charged. Once we integrate directly with Heartland, the actual rate charged by Heartland will be charged. In addition, we will work with Heartland to determine actual fees on all transactions which occured prior to the integration and will credit any difference to your organization's account.
  2. Our merchant provider charges us $0.07 per transaction for Visa / MasterCard and $0.10 per transaction for American Express. Our payment gateway charges us an additional $0.10 per transaction.
